Biden's Executive Order

The biggest story from the week, and a massive moment in the crypto landscape:

On Wednesday, the Biden White House released a highly anticipated Executive Order on Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets. Many have shared their takeaways on twitter, including Circle CEO, Jeremy Allaire, who wrote this thread.

TL;DR: The Executive Order is seen by many in the crypto community as a positive turning point that is embracing the development of digital assets, while taking into account known risks.  This article breaks it down in more detail.

MetaMask Ban in Iran

Late last week, wallet provider MetaMask began banning all wallets associated with Iranian IP addresses. The wallet provider explained that this was happening because Infura, their service provider for getting information on and off chain, needed to remain compliant with US sanction directives.

Initially, the bans were applied too broadly, and the service provider acknowledged the issue and restored service to those it was allowed to.

This ban has raised some concerns from users about how cutting off access to 'decentralized' apps because of sanctions shows that web3 is not truly decentralized. Read more here.
